Life Changes

The greatest influence on my life and the reason for JOCCS is my parents and daughter. I saw and learned from both parents, strong family values and after divorce a persistent desire to always strive for improvement in self and living. My parents (Joe & Ollie) had been married for 69 years until my father’s sudden death in 2011.

I inherited the responsibility by default of Power of Attorney (POA) of the estate and began caring for my elderly mother who was living in University City, Missouri while I still resided in Maryland until her passing in 2019.  With each change and challenge, I was given a new day and opportunity for life to change for the better.

Life Challenges

After surviving physical abuse, divorce, being a single parent, and unemployment all of these life challenges have taught me to simply say oh, it’s you again, and keep moving up, out, and forward.

I will continue to draw from my past, personal experiences, and spiritual strengths as a valuable resource that is vital for me to share with others.

Diversity & Community

Throughout my life, our family traveled to various cities and states communicating with a diverse population. As a result, my spiritual and personal experiences have been very impactful throughout my life. Thus, allowing me to work from a multicultural perspective.

I learned how to communicate in and with the public at various civic/community events as well as at church.  Interact with everyone regardless of his or her religion, race, gender, education, social or financial status.  We are all giving one life to live.
